What Causes The Antibody Levels To Decrease While On Synthroid And Tirosint?

default
Posted on Tue, 28 Jul 2015
Question: I was dx with Hashimotos last year. I have been on Levothyroixine, thyroid Armour, Synthroid, and Tirosint. Levo worked great for about 2 weeks then stopped. Armour gave me heart palpitations. Synthroid causes severe leg pain. Tirosint does the least amount of side effects but still tired on items occasionally still get heart pounding when taking it. My antibodies were 385 on meds but I went gluten free and they are now under 50. I recently increased iron which seems to help with heart pounding, but hasn't completely helped. And my hair has started falling out again. I take 600 mg of magnesium. C 99 mg of potassium before bed. Any help would be appreciated!!

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
As your antibody levels are coming down, it indicates that your disease is less active.
It would be a good idea to check your Thyroid function test again and adjust the dose of medicines. Higher than required dose gives palpitations and restlessness and lower dose can make you lethargic.
I can interpret and suggest the dose once you have the results.

Brief Answer:
Thyroid functions

Detailed Answer:
Thyroid function tests - TSH, FT4, FT4
Also you could do the blood iron, ferritin and magnesium levels to know whether you require iron and magnesium.
