What Causes Swollen Right Foot With Blackish Vein?

default
Posted on Tue, 1 Jul 2014
Question: Overused my foot. Got swelling on top of right foot. This was last Monday. Had 2 ultrasounds and at hospital Cat scan to rule out blood clots. All tests were negative.Yesterday I felt when I woke up on that vein that it was blackish and hard as a rock. Called the doctor by the time I got there at 3pm it was gone. It felt hard and was sore. Worried that it was a clot and it in my system. Do I have to worry? Please respond back ASAP!

Brief Answer:
No need to worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query

It is rather not a blood clot. If it moved to the system (lungs) you would have breathing problems, chest pain, etc. Most likely you have some leg swelling or bruise due to vein rupture. Some blood clots can be also removed by immune system without any complications.
So if you do not have any shortness of breath, chest pain, calf pain, calf is not hard and painful, no need to worry.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
