What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes After Alcohol Intake?

default
Posted on Mon, 24 Apr 2017
Question: What other causes for swollen lymph nodes after alcohol aside from lymphoma?
Please note that I always had large lymph nodes since child hood especially when having tonsilitis. I had tonsilitis this month and took antibiotics and the lymph nodes subsided after. But last night I had 1 shot of vodka and this morning my lymph nodes hurt. Im not sure if that was also the case last week. I started drinking just last week and never drank before. They say fatigue is also a symptom but Im not always tired lately though there was one time when I was especially when I was going back and forth driving inter towns.

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be lymphoma

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

There are a number of points against a diagnosis of lymphoma in you. Your nodes are from childhood, not recent. Then you had tonsillitis, when they enlarged and subsided with antibiotics. There is no significant fatigue, fever, weight loss, night sweats. So all of these suggest that these are benign nodes.

Some hurting in nodes after alcohol may be normal, because of blood vessel engorgement.

Hope this helps.
