What Causes Swollen Lymph Node In Neck And Abnormal Bleeding After Interourse?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Mar 2015
Question: I have a swollen lymph node a little pass my hair line behind my neck. I also been having abnormal bleeding after intercourse. I'm not sure what can be the cause, but it's not normal that I have bleeding. My other symptoms include pain in my abdomen, I have no weight loss. I've come back from a deployment so I was thinking the blood after intercourse could be because I haven't had sexual intercourse in 7 months. It doesn't explain the swollen lymph node though. Looking for answers. Thanks

In my opinion it might be a lymph node or any local infection.
Before giving you any suggestions on the swelling and bleeding after intercourse I would like to know:-
1)Do you have any fever ,cough or night sweats?

3)Since how many days its been there?
4)How are your menstrual cycles?
5)Any foul smelling vaginal discharge?
6)Any pain during intercourse?

Night sweats, no pain and it's been about a week and a half for the swollen lymph node. I do have irregular menstrual cycles. I do not have any foul smelling discharge or urinary symptoms. No back aches either. I do have a little pain during intercourse, but it's not bothersome. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Physical examination is necessary

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

thanks for the information given.i noticed a swelling in your picture and slight erythema also.

I understand your concern.Iam sorry for your condition.

In my opinion the swelling might be due to infective etiology in lymph node or abscess under skin.

As you have night sweats it might be infective etiology. So we need to rule out any
scalp lesions, seborrheic dermatitis or any dental infection or skin infections.

In case of any patient walk in to my clinic i would like to check her total blood counts and ESR(erythrocyte sedimentation rate).A good clinical examination and with ultra sound i can confirm the nature of tissue below that swelling.

I strongly suggest you to consider meeting a physician and go for investigations to look in to probable diagnosis of condition.

If the swelling is firm and painless then biopsy might be needed.

Bleeding after intercourse is seen in cases of unhealthy cervix or pelvic inflammatory disease(PID) .
As you don't have foul smelling discharge ,back pain or pain during intercourse PID might not be the cause.

So I suggest you to get an examination done by gynaecologist to rule out any unhealthy cervix.A cervical biopsy might be needed sometimes.

This bleeding after intercourse might not be related to swelling.

My aim is not to make you tense but just explaining you the possibilities.

Nothing to worry about them.

Hope this satisfies your query.

Feel free to discuss further.

Best regards...Dr srilatha
