Question: My husband, age 68, began having a swelling on the roof of his mouth yesterday. It is a throbbing pain behind his front teeth. None of the teerh hurt.

Thanks for writing in.

Swelling can be due to having some excessively hot food stuff.It could also be due to some abscessed tooth in upper jaw.

If its due to thermal injury then apply anaesthetic gel to that area & it will resolve with time.
If its due to infection in tooth then it might require Root Canal Treatment or extraction of tooth depending on condition of tooth.

Consult dentist for further treatment plan.
