default
Posted on Mon, 15 Sep 2014
Question: My 12-year-old has been telling me recently her right cheek of her face feels funny at times. She says it feels swollen and heavy but looks normal. It is not numb. It lasts about 15 minutes and goes away. It happens once or twice a week. Otherwise she is healthy. This just started this summer.

Brief Answer:
it can be salivary gland dysfunction

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have studied your case.
There is probably involvement of salivary gland leading to swelling on cheek.
You may need clinical examination to confirm the diagnosis.
Another possibility of allergic reactions leading to swelling.
Blood investigation like CBC, ESR, CRP. Will help to diagnose.
I hope I have answered your questions. If you have further questions please feel free to ask. I will be happy to answer your question. Take care.

She has no swelling. It just has the feeling like her cheek is heavy and it "feels" swollen to her. But no actual swelling .

Brief Answer:
Look for inside swelling.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

As there is no actual swelling from out side look for any swelling from inside through gums.

If heaviness persist then you need to consult your doctor.
