default
Posted on Mon, 17 Nov 2014
Question: my left armpit is a bit swollen and sometimes irritates me. I have had ultrasound to look for breast cancer and it came up negative. Should I consider to pursue why I have this swollen area with my doctors?

Infection most probably fungal

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for posting
I have gone through your query and understand your concern. The most likely cause looks to be infection and it may be fungal.
To help you better please tell me-
1. Is there any pain, redness with restriction of shoulder movement?
2. Any chronic disease like diabetes and medication?
Looking forward to your reply to help you further.
Take care

1) no arm restriction. occsasional pain orienting from the area.
2) doc says i am pre-diabetes. I also have year round allergies. Had a fungal sinus infection about 4 months ago, which was treated by an ENT with a pill prescription. My sinuses are good now. I have had this armit thing for a year now.

Hi
It’s good to see you
After going through your reply carefully and since the armpit suffering is of a year now, it does not look to be serious issue. The most likely is off and on fungal infection.
You may apply antifungal cream like bactrim GM and carry on with the personal hygiene as usual. Ibuprofen as a pain killer helps.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
