What Causes Stomach Upset And Dysbacteriosis While On Jidox And Sensiclav?
Question: I had been advised JIDOX 200mg twice a day for throat infection on 7.11.2015. Since yesterday I have stomach infection which is causing nausea, slight looser motion than usual with slight stomach cramp, slight cough and headache due to cold. I have been prescribed tab.sensiclav 625 twice a day from today for next five days with deletus for cough.
1. I want to know if taking antibiotics so frequently can cause any serious harm.
2. I get acidity very easily, doc hasn't given any antacid with sensiclav 625. can I take rekool 20mg or should I avoid it due to possibility of loose motions...I am feeling nauseated may be due to stomach infection
2. I have low hb for almost one year 9.50 average. Doctor has started on iron injections Orofer from today, once a week for 4 weeks.

I have gone through your query. You can continue sensiclav. You don't need to take jidox and sensiclav together. These antibiotics can cause stomach upset and dysbacteriosis.
Taking h2 blockers like ranitidine will be helpful for stomach discomfort.Rekool 20 is ok to take if no ranitidine. But rekool is a prescription drrug. This is available over the counter and can take 150 mg twice daily. You can also take probiotics containing bifidobacter or sacharomyces boulardii. Taking kefir or yogurt is also good.
Take sensiclav only after food also.

thank you for your reply dr. XXXXXXX ....but I need to make clear that I took jidox for 5 days from 7.11.15 to 11.11.15 & today I have been prescribed sensiclav very soon after last antibiotic dose. my concern was will taking antibiotic so soon just 12 days after last dose cause any serious health concern?

Jidox is not effective with betalactamase producing bacteria. As you have infection still it is better to go with sensiclav which gives a broad spectrum of coverage including betalactamase producing bacteria.
Antibiotics can of course cause problems like dysbacteriosis.But as you have infection better to take it. For dysbacteriosis take probiotics also.
