default
Posted on Sat, 7 Jun 2014
Question: I had a partial hysterectomy at 29 - I am 48 now. I noticed when I turned 45 my ovulation started coming more freqeunt like every three weeks now it's like every two weeks - my stomach swells up and I look like I'm two months pregnant - feel real irritable, no energy, back hurts and sex drive is down. Is this normal that I ovulate so often.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
How do you know you are ovulating every two - three weeks.
According to me, you are possibly crossing actual menopause now at 45, with your ovarian functions slumping.
THis is the time that you would need HRT ( hormone replacement therapy ) for your symptoms.
You can confirm this by measuring hormones - FSH, LH, Serum estradiol.
ALso, yoga, meditation, relaxation techniques, daily exercise and diet control will help.
All the best

I just assumed being I only have my ovaries and the swelling. I'm actually 48 and my mom and eldest sister started menopause around this age but I guess I never thought about it. I would ask my gyneocologist about measuring hormones? I do exercise at least three times a week and I have a very healthy diet and I weigh 108.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
Yes, I strongly think this is menopause, particularly coinciding with the family history too.
That would explain all your symptoms.
Take care.
