Question: Hi I am XXXX.I am a nurse in Australia.I am 5 weeks pregnant now.As i had a little bit of spotting for last one week, which has now resolved i was very concerned about my progesterone levels. So my doctor did a HCG which was 1702 and progesterone which was 35.9nmol/L which as per my calculation is only 11.28ng/ml.Is this normal for 5 weeks, can i have a normal pregnancy with this level in week 5 or do i have to take more pogesterone supplements.

Brief Answer:
The progesterone levels are normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
During 5 to 6 weeks of your pregnancy, progesterone level in a range of 10-29ng/ml is normal, and some doctors expect at least a range of 6-10ng/ml at this stage. Since your levels are more than 10 ng/ml there is no need to worry. This is within the normal range. No further progesterone supplementation is needed.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
