What Causes Spotting And Bleeding A Few Days After Intercourse?

default
Posted on Tue, 12 May 2015
Question: Hi. I finished my period about a week ago. Three days after my period ended, I had intercourse with my husband and the next day started spotting. Today, two days after, I have light bleeding like my menstrual started again. Is there a reason for this? Should I be more concern? I am hoping to see a gynecologist after the bleeding stop for examinations.

Brief Answer:
possible cervical erosion; examination must.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

I can understand your concerns.

The second spotting and bleeding after normal menstrual may be secondary to hormonal disturbances. However other most probable reason could be a cervical erosion and cervical polyp.
- Have you had similar episodes in past?
- Do you use any contraceptives?
- Do you have history of irregular menses?

A gynecological examination is must. If possible, consult your doctor soon before waiting for bleeding to stop.

Hope this helps.

Take care.
Thanks.
