What Causes Sores On Vaginal Area And Vaginal Pain Post Intercourse?

default
Posted on Mon, 10 Nov 2014
Question: 4 days ago I had sex with my boyfriend. 2 days following I noticed I begin having a painful urination which worsened the following day. I thought I had a UTI so I went to the Dr. My test came back negative but due to my symptoms (painful urination, urgency, mild pain in lower abdomen) he went ahead and prescribed me nitrofurantoin to treat a UTI. Since then, the painful urination has slowly stopped, but in the meantime I have noticed pain in my vaginal area (tender toward the back of my vagina toward the anus). Upon self examination I have found what appears to be a sore outside of my vagina in that area. I also should note that my boyfriend complains of me having a small vaginal opening, making insertion difficult and likely causing some irritation for both of us. I am panicking that I may have an STD that was previously undetected. We began having sex about a month ago and since then I had not had sex with another partner for a year, having none of these symptoms since, and never noticing a sore before.

Brief Answer:
lubricant gel in future

Detailed Answer:
Hello, I understand your health concerns.
It is not a serious issue and not an STD definitely.
Basically the soreness is just due to sexual activity and most probably a hasty activity in the absence of lubrication which occurs at times in second half of the menstrual cycle or due to the lack of foreplay.
Next time when you indulge in sexual activity avoid vigorous or hasty sex and always wear a condom.
In case it happens again then use some lubricant like Visna gel readily available in market.
All the best.
