Brief Answer:
Directions below, visit pulmonologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello, greetings!
Thanks for posting your query on hcm.
Did this problem develop recently or you have had similar issues in the past?
The reason why you feel breathless during bathing is due to vasoconstriction.
When cold water comes in contact with your body, there is constriction of your blood vessels.
Oxygen supply reduces and thus the gasping starts in an effort to get more oxygen into the body. This condition is called hyperventilation, though it is uncommon with hot water.
Thus, I would recommend you to visit a pulmonologist immediately to rule out any respiratory issues like COPD- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Also, I would recommend you get an ECG done.
In the meantime, try to do warm water sponging and gradually introducing yourself to water.
If you have any further doubts/ queries, you may get back to me.
Regards,
Dr. Sonia
