What Causes Severe Soreness In The Breast?

default
Posted on Tue, 27 Dec 2016
Question: My breasts usually get very sore before my period but once it starts the soreness goes away. This time however I'm still dealing with soreness on day 2. Now I have also discovered a longer type lump that runs north to south on my left breast about an inch about my nipple. Is this something I need to see my Dr about right away? I just turned 39 & there is no breast cancer in my family history.

Brief Answer:
Examination and mammography needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The soreness in the breast can be related to hormonal changes during the periods. The persistent soreness can be a normal variation. The long lump that you have discovered can be a benign breast tissue change. A direct examination and mammography is needed to confirm this. Do consult your gynecologist regarding this and get the investigations done. It can wait till you get an appointment with the gynecologist.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
