What Causes Severe Pain In The Back?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Jul 2016
Question: I typed in my symptoms on the symptom page and when trying to exactly point to where on my back it is hurting me it wouldn't let me zoom in. It's right sided middle back area. I kept hoping it was just a muscle pulled but it's been like a week and it's the same pain it hasn't lessened at all. Advil can numb it but not make it go away completely. I'm okay while I am sleeping but the minute I try to get up and the rest of the day - painful. I am worried it is kidney related can you tell me please. Thank you in advance.

Brief Answer:
Very unlikely kidney related.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

From your post, the first possibility comes in my mind is yes, muscle spasm or pull and sometimes it may take 7 to 10 days to resolve with symptomatic treatment.

But it is unlikely to be related to kidney, however clinical examination of back will rule out it for which you will need to see some local doctor.

Meanwhile, please avoid putting strain on the back and avoid uncomfortable positions.Sit in a position which your are comfortable.

You can also take antispasmodics like dicyclomine with antacids available over the counter for symptomatic relief.

No issue to continue advil which can be taken up to 3 times daily.Topical pain killer gel will also be beneficial.

Warm compression over middle of back would be helpful for symptomatic relief.

Take complete bed rest for couple of days and restricted your day to day movements.

Hope this will help you.
