What Causes Severe Headache, Nausea And Dizziness After Head Injury?

default
Posted on Tue, 10 Jan 2017
Question: my 12 year old daughter fell at school and hit her head. She said the pain on impact was a 6 out of 10.
I'm a medic of 20 years and her P.E.A.R.L for eye neurological checks out normal and she has no physical lump that I or even she can feel on her head where she said she hit it.
She also fell in the grass outside as opposed to flooing wood or concrete.
she said she got nauseas and dizzy for a bit after she initially hit her head but she is a little dramatic and has stated she has felt fine every since I picked her up from school.
She says other than tenderness to her buttocks, back and head (which is how I think she took the impact of the fall and landed on her buttocks and back first) she has no complaints.
My gut tells me she probably doesnt have a concussion and my training as well but im not a doctor.
do you think she needs to go to ER?

Not needed

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Let me reassure you that unless the ominous signs of head injury viz. vomiting, severe headache, seizures or loss of consciousness, are present, you do not need to take her to the ER.
