What Causes Severe Fatigue While On Thyronorm Post Delivery?

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Sep 2016
Question: My wife had developed hypothyroidism during first pregnancy. She has been taking Thyronorm since 2014. Delivered second child in March 2016. Post delivery, from April to 22nd June'16 she was on 25 mcg. Her TSH on 22nd XXXXXXX was 0.01 and was advised to switch to 12.5 mcg. Of late, she has been feeling horribly fatigued and lethargic. We got TSH test done yesterday, it is at 0.06. Could you please advise whether to continue Thyronorm 12.5 mcg or to adjust the dosage?

Brief Answer:
post partum thyroiditis.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX hi ! this is dr. XXXXXXX here.
post partum thyroiditis is a known entity and the patient goes through typical hyper - hypo- euthyroid phases.
presently your wife is going through hyperthyroid phase, please stop thyroxine for now. recheck TSH and FT4 after 6 - 8 weeks. please get back to us with the reports.
