default
Posted on Sat, 10 Sep 2016
Question: my husband, 56 yrs old is suffering from severe dizziness, a ringing in his ears, pressure in his ears, and sensitivity to light and noise. He saw a doctor 2 weeks ago and received antibiotics for a sinus infection. He does have asthma, and it seems to clear up, but is back tonight. What can I do to ease his discomfort?

Brief Answer:
Anti vertigo medications, nasal decongestants will be helpful.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Your husband's problem can be due to build up of fluid in ear due to block in auditory blockage. Nasal congestion can give this.
Taking anti vertigo medications like dimenhydrinate ( Dramamine ) and local nasal decongestants like xylometazoline ( otrivin ) sprays will be helpful. These are over the counter available drugs.
Check his blood pressure also. If there is no improvement then you should consult an ENT specialist to rule out infection and need for antibiotics and supportives.

Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.
