What Causes Severe Burps And Chest Tightness After Taking Ferrous Gluconate?

default
Posted on Sat, 20 Jun 2015
Question: for the past few months I have been taking ferrous gluconate as my iron levels were very low. for the past few weeks I have been getting digestive issues where as I keep burping even if I've eaten one spoonful of anything I am also getting chest tightness whether I eat Or not, it is not severe pain, but is getting me worried as I have anxiety issues already, so now I don't know if it's anxiety related or something else.

unlikely to be navel displacement

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank you for getting back with the answers. I have gone through them.

Yes, most probably this pain is because of muscular spasm & its been aggravated by your stress. stress/anxiety almost always aggravates the problem. If i were your treating doctor then i would have advised following things:

- naproxen twice a day for 3 days.
- take hot water in a rubber bottle and put it at the site of pain. It will give soothing effect.
- get a baseline ECG done to rule out heart status.
- avoid lifting heavy weight till you become healthy again.
- ask some family member to do oil massage on your back. It will also give soothing effect.
- take small frequent meals.
- take 30-45mins walk/exercise daily in the evening. It will make you fresh, healthy and is good for digestion.
- Don't lie down immediately after taking meal
- raise head end of your bed slightly(by an inch)
- Eat a diet rich in fiber, especially from fruits and vegetables

> AVOID:
fatty & oily food.
spices
heavy meals at night
carbonated & caffine drinks
chocolates

Hopefully you will observe improvement soon but If pain persists then visit hospital for workup & physiotherapy.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!

Thank you so much for your help much appreciated, what could cause the burping though? Have you heard of digestive enzymes tablets? Is it worth taking them thank you
doctor
Answered by Dr. Muhammad Ali Rauf (2 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
go with dietary modification at the moment

Detailed Answer:
Hello

You are most welcome.I'll be available 24/7 for if you need any assistance.

I would recommend you to try above mentioned management at the present and do not go for digestive enzymes. Hopefully you will see improvement with these measures. Burping could be due to maldigestion of food.

Feel free to get back for if you need any further assistance.
Thank You

Brief Answer:
Absolutely not

Detailed Answer:
hello

i would suggest you not to worry at all for burping. it will automatically improve when you will follow the dietary steps. its only because of maldigestion and will possess no harm. so you should relax and carry with normal daily routine.

Thank you so much for your answers, can I ask does anxiety make things seem much worse then they are, because I worry about every little ache and pain, and then the worrying consumes me

The medicines you have suggested the doctors here in the UK don't prescribe them so easily.

Have you heard of aloe Vera gel supplement? Is it beneficial to take that?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Muhammad Ali Rauf (5 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Please see description

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank you for getting back. Yes it is herbal type medication used in a number of conditions including Constipation, Cold sores (herpes simplex virus), Psoriasis, etc. In my opinion at this moment you don't need that.
I would also suggest you to get an appointment for a psychiatrist. He will prescribe you some anxiolytics which will help you reducing the anxiety. These are prescription only meds and he can prescribe.

Thank You
