Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

I am sorry you have been having this problem. Without the advantage of examining you, I can only offer some thoughts on what might be going on:

1. A cold virus: It's possible that this is some sort of cold although you noted you have not had a fever during this. Treatment for the coughing bouts would be a stronger cough suppressant such as one with codeine.

2. A respiratory irritant that is either causing a vasomotor (irritant) rhinitis that drips down back of throat into bronchi or that is irritating your airways directly. An allergy could do this too, such as exposure to fungi, etc.

3. I don't know what other medications you may be on, but if you are on a blood pressure medicine called an ACE inhibitor, this can cause a cough.

4. Problems with the heart function, causing clear fluid to build up in the lungs and cause a cough.

It would be a good idea for you to go in to your doctor to be seen so that he/she can have a look to see where the fluid might be coming from (such as back of throat) and to listen to your lungs to make sure they are clear.
