Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would like to know something more on your chest pain:

- Is it triggered by deep breathing or body movements? This would indicate a musculo-skeletal pain.
- Do you have burping? This would be indicative of gastro-esophageal reflux.

You should know that this location of chest pain is not typical of a heart issue.

So, relax and don't worry about it!

Usually the blood vessels the go into the heart and also those who live the heart are in the middle portion of the chest, but they do not ache.

I recommend taking ibuprofen for the pain. If it doesn't help, then you should try an antiacid or PPI (omeprazole, esomeprazole, etc.). If the symptoms are relieved by ibuprofen, it would be indicative of a musculo-skeletal pain.

If the symptoms are relived from the antiacid or omeprazole, it would indicate gastro-esophageal reflux underlying your symptoms.

Another possible cause that would lead to pain in this region are billiary stones.

If the chest pain is not relived by the above mentioned trials, I would recommend consulting with your doctor for a careful physical exam and some tests:

- a resting ECG
- a chest X ray study
- complete blood count
- PCR, ESR for inflammation
- kidney and liver function tests
- an abdominal ultrasound to examine the billiary ways.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
