Brief Answer:
Although I feel chances are low; better to still get checked

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Rhabdomyolysis is a condition wherein there is some trauma to muscle tissue which then emits a protein called myoglobin, which causes damage to muscle tissue.

There have been many reports on rhabdomyolysis occurring from statin use. As you are on pravastatin, which is a statin; statins were found to result in an increased risk in developing rhabdomyolysis when given in a high dose. So the higher the dose of statins, the higher the risk of developing rhabdomyolysis.

But please note that muscle pain is very common while on statins, but intense pain along with symptoms like dark coloured urine, and severe muscle pain throughout the body; are indications of possible rhabdomyolysis.

As you have reported of muscle pain only running down the back of your legs, without other symptoms, I think this could just be associated with statin use. But I would still recommend a visit to your treating doctor, although I think the chances of rhabdomyolysis in your case are less/non-existant.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
