Brief Answer:
Augmentin is the right medicine

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Augmentin is the correct medicine , however you must remember that it can take upto 48 hours for the antibiotic to act and you will have to wait till then

The course is for five days and I would recommend that you take it for five days.

In addition you can start gargling with chlorhexidine mouth wash 3 times a day and take paracetamol 650 mg 2 to 3 times a day for the fever and pain.

Rantac will reduce associated gastritis which happens due to the medication and you can take it.

if the pain or fever or swelling do not subside in 2 days then you must meet your doctor for examination and possible change of antibiotics

Brief Answer:
The reason may be recurrent infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello

The reason may be recurrent infection by bacteria and this is generally due to low immunity.

The best long term solution would be to eat healthy and clean food and gargle with warm salt water after every meal. This will prevent food from lodging inside the tonsils and prevent an infection settings in.

There can be many reasons for decreased immunity including diabetes, stress and low hemoglobin. You can discuss this with your doctor.

If you are developing more than 5 episodes of tonsillitis in a year , then I would strongly advice you to consider getting the tonsils operated. Please discuss this with your ent doctor
