What Causes Red Spots With Itching On Vaginal Opening?

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Nov 2015
Question: Hi doctor, you were advising on my bacterial infection etc on the top of penis etc. all that has subsided. Only thing that is there are red small allergic spots with pus on top in some of them on my shoulder and on top of my back. These are there for last 1 month, though they have reduced significantly, but still are taking time to go and new spots appear in 1or 2 nos every other day and the old ones which seem like healed still leave a red mark on the body which is taking time to disappear. Do I need any medication for this, my local doctor here has started me with doxycycline for 14 days, 2 tBs a day. Or you have some other advice.

On the other hand my wife developed red allergic like spots for last 15 days out of. XXXXXXX but she has no itchy or burning feeling. She has not bothered that much and her spots have subsided on her own. And lastly for last 2 days her vaginal lips have swollen and she is having considerable pain in the area. Important to highlight that we have not had physical contact for last 4 months.

Am worried if all this is hinting to any STD or can be a bacterial infection that she has got etc...

Look for your advise.

Brief Answer:
Non STD infection in wife.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query at the HCM.

It appears that your doctor seems you have STD. No problem you may continue with the doxycycline for 1-2 weeks. Get haemogram and blood sugar levels checked. Maintain hygiene and use chlothexidine wash for bathing. Follow up after completing treatment.
Now coming to your wife it appears most likely that she is having allergic reactions to soaps, vaginal contraceptives, sprays, creams, goaps, vaginal contraceptives, sprays, creams. But it could be cyst, abscess or infection. It can be non STD related as they are common infection in women. Take her to gynecologist for getting swab testing and ultrasound pelvic region. Also get her pregnancy testing done. She might require topical triple action cream and oral antibiotics.Ask her to maintain perineal hygiene.

Hope I answered your query

Hi doc, pl see picture of my wife's swelling, what does this seem. There is severe pain around the vaginal area, bit of difficulty in sitting and going into left leg, though there is no discharge. She has copper t tube with medicine inserted for controlling her heavy discharge during periods, this is inserted for last two years. Could this have caused this cyst like swelling.

Will send another picture in sometime.

Look forward to your advice and next steps.

Brief Answer:
Cyst with infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

The picture suggests that she is having cystic lesion superimposed with secondary infection. Yes it could be due to IUD or unrelated. I would suggest you to visit a gynecologist and get her proper pelvic examination done to rule out inflammatory disease and assess extent of lesion. She might require IUD removal, antibiotics and drainage. Maintain hygiene of perineal area and avoid sexual intercourse.

Take care

Just checked the spot again, we can't figure out discharge as due to copper t insertion she has slow ongoing periods.

Took some more pictures, they are attached, if they help in any way to assess. On touching the cyst it pains severely as well.

I saw a doctor and he advised arithromycin tablet as antibiotic, is that good enough for this. Do we complete the course of 3 days and then see the gynae... Advice pl
What can be cause of secondary infection, is there a possibility of this being linked to my symptoms which have subsided around 90%

See details.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Yes azithromycin is prescription drug and effective for infection like chlamydia and even non STD infection. Continue the treatment if there will be no response then we might have to change the drug. Yes complete the treatment and visit the gynecologist. Yes it is possible that it could be due to your lesion or unrelated. Don't worry just get the treatment done.

Thank you doctor. Would you prescribe any medicine for reducing pain or it will go with Azithromycin (Zithromax) as well.

Brief Answer:
Pain killers and hot fermentation needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Aceclofenac once or twice daily will be beneficial for pain relief. Sitting for 15-20 minutes in bath tub filled with warm water will also be beneficial to reduce pain.

Thanks for your advice doc, hot fermentation is really helping.

On my front, wanted to know the side effects of doxycycline... as after having the medicine am seeing swelling in the muscle connecting the right shoulder to me arm pit and feeling of slight swelling and heaviness on the left side of my pelvis (front of body) connecting to the groin area. Shoulder is more discomforting and pelvis heaviness started from today morning only.

Also I see red dots around side of my stomach and bit itchy feeling over the body, plus some different type red rashes appearing over my chest, arms and back (not too many but can see 5-10 of them). May be I have gone hyper and am looking at my body too closely then I should...

look forward to hearing from you.

I have asked doctor for complete blood tests (haemogram, ESR, Vitamin B12, lipid profile, thyroid, liver function test, fasting blood sugar, kidney test, urine culture) - doctor suggested that with these we will get an indication to go further with STD screening or not. His view was with arithromyzin and doxycycline we are covering syphilis, chlymadia and gonnhrea. My symptoms don't look like herpes... as don't have anything on my face, mouth or genitals. Also in case of HIV, one or the other (specifically ESR) would throw untowards results...

pl advice, whether am too psyched because of events with me and my spouse. and whether some of above are side effects of doxycycline and would go away. how long to use doxycycline (have been advised for 14 days, today is 5th day)

Brief Answer:
Dont worry so much. Continue treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I would suggest you not to worry and get so anxious. Yes these could be allergic side effects of drug but not severe. You must continue the treatment for 2 weeks and I hope your problem will get relieved. It is good that you are getting complete evaluation. You have to allay fears and anxieties.

Take care
