Posted on Wed, 16 Mar 2016
Question: Hi doctor, I've got these red scars on my glans after 10days of having unprotected blowjob. It feels tingling/pain kind of sensation. Also got red bump on my peehole. Could you please suggest any medication. Im most worried what it might be. I have used neosporin cream on the area where it is red as suggested by a GP. After couple of days the redness on my glans spread a little. The part with red scar is very soft when compared to other part of the glans. Attached pics for references. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of genital herpes

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have gone through your query and i have also reviewed the images.
I can see a lot of erosions on glans penis and near to the opening of urethra.

After looking at the image I suggest a possibility of genital herpes with superimposed candidal balanitis and I would like to treat you empirically for these possibilities, though i would later like to confirm the possibility of genital herpes with a blood test at 4 - 6 weeks.
If i was the treating doctor I would suggest oral antivirals e.g Acyvlovir 400 mg tablet (Zovirax tablets) thrice daily gor a week.
In addition I would also suggest you to take a single dose if oral antifungal e.g Fluconazole 150 mg tablet.
Topically you may use an antibiotic cream e.g 2% mupirocin cream (T-Bact cream)
These are all prescription medications and therefore I suggest you to use them under supervision of your local doctor.
Clean the area with just lukewarm water. Avoid using soaps or anything harsh like dettol or savlon.

Regards

Brief Answer:
I would suggest oral antivirals i.e acyclovir

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

So that confirms my initial clinical diagnosis, that of herpes. Genital herpes is transmitted by direct contact, either oral or genital, with an infected sexual partner. It is an STD. Genital herpes can be caused by either Hsv type 1 virus Or Hsv type 2 virus. Hsv type 1 commonly causes oro-labial herpes therefore transmission to genital mucosa is usually through oral sex, as in your case.
I would suggest gou to go ahead with my advice in previous reply i.e oral antivirals (Acyclovir) and topical antibacterial cream. You would require a prescription for these from your local doctor.

Brief Answer:
let me know how it goes

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Sure keep me posted. However i would suggest you to apply topical antibiotic e.g mupirocin cream (T-Bact cream) rather than desonide 0.05% cream. Desonide is a topical steroid.

Thank you
