What Causes Recurrent Miscarriages?

Question: I had a miscarriage on Friday, this was my 4th miscarriage in 2 years do I now ask that my doctor takes it further and does some tests? I was 6weeks pregnant this time and haven't been given a scan or anything to see if baby is still viable

Thanks for the query to HCM,
As this has been your 4th miscarriage and i am surprised that your doctor hasn't got a ultrasound done before performing miscarriage. Now , it has been 4th miscarriage so you should be evaluated for recurrent pregnancy loss. You need to evaluated for INHERITED AND ACQUIRED THROMBOPHILIAS , and a hormonal profile to look for a possible cause for recurrent abortion. Please discuss the details with your physician in detail,

I do have pcos would that be why I'm losing my baby's

PCOS is not the cause for pregnancy loss. PCOS is responsible for anovulation or delayed ovulation but not responsible for further maintenance of pregnancy. so as you have conceived naturally , so PCOS is not the cause. The possible cause of recurrent pregnancy loss would be possibly INHERITED AND ACQUIRED THROMBOPHILIAS which needs to be evaluated.
