Brief Answer:
ITP can recur.Removal of spleen is to prevent decrease in platelet count.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

ITP is idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.
ITP is caused by destruction of platelets.
Removal of spleen is done to prevent destruction of platelets.
Removal of spleen does not treat the underlying cause of ITP.
It only helps to prevent destruction of platelets.
ITP does not have known underlying cause so definitive treatment may not be possible.
However, management is possible.
Recurrence of ITP is possible.
ITP co-exists with ITP so platelets should be checked whenever you suffer from fever.

Brief Answer:
ITP can be managed depending on cause.Complete tt may not be possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again,
ITP is usually caused by auto-antibodies acting body's own platelets.
It is usually precipitated by viral infections.
Management includes removal of these auto-antibodies by plasmapheresis.
The disease may recur.
It may not be possible to treat the disease fully but it can be managed.
