default
Posted on Mon, 24 Oct 2016
Question: Hi,

My wife has developed skin rashes since 1 month on her face, besides the lips. She is pregnant with the 5th month of pregnancy going on. Could you advise any home remedies for the rashes and what could be the root cause of this, pregnancy or something else ? Attaching the pics too.

Her age is 27.

Brief Answer:
Dry discoid eczema. I suggest her to use a moderately potent topical steroid cream

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am Dr.Kakkar(Dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.

These dry, red, scaly patches at the angles of mouth seems to be a result of heightened risk for atopy and eczema during pregnancy. I would keep a possibility of dry discoid eczema.

I suggest her to use a moderately potent topical steroid cream e.g fluticasone propionate (Flutivate Cream), twice daily for 2 weeks. This should make it fine.

Ask her to use a gentle soap for face wash e.g either dove soap or pears soap.

Regards
