Brief Answer:
Need more details.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Thanks for your query.

At 53 y, with diabetes, accelerated heart rate can have many causes. can you please tell me a few things.
1. are you hypertensive?
2. what medicines you are presently taking?
3. how is your sugar control?
4. how often have you experienced this accelerated heart rate?

what I am trying to tell you sur, it can be normal event due to a particular TV program or it can have underlying cause like high blood pressure , uncontrolled diabetes, rhythm problems of heart etc. so if things repeat you need hba1c, BP monitoring, TSH, FT4, ECG, Echo and probably then we can solve the problem.
