Posted on Tue, 23 May 2017
Question: i've been taking norco's for over 10 yrs for a bulging disk in my back. I've had 2 bouts with kidney stones both requiring surgery within the last 2yrs. But I've also stop running within the last 3 1/2 yrs. I was running about 8 to 15 miles per week sometimes more for about 14yrs. kidney disease runs in our family for at least 3 generations that I know of. I had a 24hr urine alaysis done and it proved that I have too much protein in my urine.I am on a low protein and low sodium diet. my creatine leval is 0.08 and bun was 8. My question is could the pills be hurting my kidneys therefore protein leaking into my urine. I was told by 2 friends that since I quit running the protein in my body is'nt getting level out so could that be causes the protein in my urine therefore making stones. my stones are calcium stone. I was a heavy drinker for approx. 25 yrs. quit in 2001 and became literally addicted to chocolate. I've given up chocolate and other sweets that were high in ossalates. thank you XXXXXXX

- Both molecules have least side effects on kidneys in the range of 0.2-1%
more rare cases seen if with multiple analgesics, acetaminophen associated
hepatotoxicity.

*Kidney stones contribute to good extent for proteinuria .
*Both pills are definitely affecting your kidney`s glomerular function though
your S.Creatinine is normal.
*I will suggest for you certain guidelines :
- drink plenty of liquids preferably boiled water, coconut water, lemon juice,
green tea, coffee, butter milk etc. to maintain your hydration.
- diet continue as low sodium , low protein.
- can take chocolates in limits.
- avoid smoking / alcohol / any other abuse substances if using.
- do regular walking in fresh air , perform light exercises at home with YOGA
to boost up your immunity & improve kidney working.
- avoid oily / spicy / nonveg stuffs / beverages .
- avoid stress / anxiety .
- have adequate sound sleep of 8 hours.
- do regular check up in form of Creatinine , Urine albumin & Ultrasound
Abdomen & pelvis for calculus & hydronephrosis.
- keep your BP , Blood sugar , Body weight , S. creatinine under control.
- if you are not having intense pain , should consider to half the current dose of
both pills & see for 10 days , if ok then continue with it .
