What Causes Presence Of Gluformin Pieces In The Stool?

Question: I am taking gluformin xl 500 twice a day in the morning after breakfst and night

after dinner, i have observed some times the tablet comes out in my stools in the

same shape of the tablet.which means the tablet / medicine is not utilsed by the body or else what could be the problem.

I have gone through your query carefully and understood your concerns.

Usually, I advise my patients to swallow the whole tablet of Metformin xl 500 and not to crush or chew it up.

The tablet contains Metformin as active ingredient and other inactive ingredients. These inactive ingredients would be show in your stool if you crush or chew up the tablet.

However, I do not see anything to be concerned.

I swallow the whole tablet (gluformin xl 500) and never crush it or chew it ,
so what could be the reason to come out out in the stools as it is.

To my opinion, the reason why the whole pill came out in the stool as it is might be related to:
- maldigestion or other bowel problems you might be suffering
- the tablet contained only inactive ingredients and not the active one.

Usually, the active component is absorbed by the body; while, the inactive ingredients are passing in the stool as they are.
