Question: Hi doctor, currently for the past 1 week experiencing upper abdomen discomfort (especially on awakening), excessive gas and flatus (also after meals), semi solid stools and mucos (2-3 motions in the morning). In February had diarrhea with upper abdome pain after eatinv for which different medications like oflox for 5 days, then levoflox for 5 days prescribed. Not much relief resulted in me visiting another doctor who put me on neksium twice daily, rifagut 550 twice a day for 7 days, followed by morease i (at night) and neksium empty stomach. Thereafter psyllium husk was prescribed as i am planning pregnancy with neksium to be continued for 6 weeks. As the gas and bloating did not stop, husk was discontinued. After which ie in the past 1 week loose stools (not watery) with mucos with upper abdomen discomfort, gas and flatus, burping continuing. There is an urgency with feeling of incomplete evacuation. I have again been prescribed rifagut 550, neksium before meals, and sompraz l in the morning for 7 days. I am a smoker (3-4 a day), with repeated bouts of gastritis and erosive gastritis for the past 10 years or so. I do regular exercise and actively working.

Brief Answer:
Investigate and diet/lifestyle changes

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Read through your question and I would like some more information from yourself:
Have you had an OGD (upper GI endoscopy) and an Ultrasound abdomen, if so what are the findings.
Would suggest some diet/lifestyle changes :
1. Stop or reduce smoking.
2. Avoid carbonated drinks if you take them.
3. Avoid milk, tea and coffee.
4. Make a habit of chewing "SAUNF" (green one, not sugar coated) after every meal it absorbs lot of gas and is also good in fibre content.
5. Make sure you do not keep your stomach empty and have healthy small meals/ snacks every 2 hours.
6. Have buttermilk and yogurt in your diet.

I have gone though the medications advised by your doctor and would suggest you to complete the medications as advised by your doctor.

Take care, hope you get better
