What Causes Persistent Headaches After Taking Vyvanse?

default
Posted on Wed, 8 Jun 2016
Question: I usually get a headache around 6 hours after taking my ADHD medicine (only 20 MG of vyvance, not all that much). It is becoming really frustrating. I've noticed that the medicine is a pretty significant diuretic and causes me to urinate maybe 4 times as much as normal. This causes me to suspect that the cause of the headache is dehydration caused by the medicine. Am I on the right track here? Would increasing my water intake prevent the headaches or are they a more neurological side effect that requires a different treatment?

Brief Answer:
Increase your water intake!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these headaches that you have reported. Reviewing your information makes it clear that excess urination is probably to be blamed. Also, there is a direct relationship with taking Vyvanse. Drink as much water as you urinate. This will ensure that you don’t get dehydrated and develop a headache. If after replacing volume for volume of urine with water the symptoms persist, then at that time we would look into more details. At this time, it seems so much related to this medication and we should start with the above measures first. Keep me posted.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.
