Posted on Mon, 22 May 2017
Question: I have been dizzy.. feeling like I'm buzzed from a couple drinks.. yet I don't drink... It's not spinning.. It's off balance I was holding on to the walls to go to bathroom... some points I felt like I was gonna black out.. this lead to panic attacks being concerned.. It's been all day happening.. I'm not sure if I should go to the er.. at some points during the day I've been getting shortness of breathe.. I stopped smoking cigarettes 3 weeks ago.. so not sure if it's related but just letting u know.. I also had a 2nd blood patch 5 weeks ago.. not sure if that could be a reason either. I'm not sure what to think..

Brief Answer:
Vertigo, possibly due to a viral cause

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. The organ of hearing lies in our inner ear (vestibulocochlear apparatus) and is also associated with the sense of balance. Certain viral infections can give rise to such presentations as you have described. Vestibulocochlear stabilizing agents like cinnarizine or betahistine might be needed. Since these are prescription medicines you might need to visit the ER to get these prescribed.

You also need to drink plenty of water and fluids.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
