Brief Answer:
topical steroid, oral antihistamine

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The irritation would be due to contact dermatitis. This is irritation of the skin caused by contact with a particular agent.

The treatment would involve: (1) the application of a topical steroid cream to reduce the inflammation. Eg - hydrocortisone , which is available over the counter
If this topical steroid is not strong enough then you may need a prescription for a stronger one from your doctor

(2)the use of oral anti histamines - these would also help to reduce the body's inflammatory response

(3)oral anti inflammatory pain medications such as ibuprofen, cataflam or naproxen would also help with any pain/discomfort and may also add in relieving some of the irritation

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
