What Causes Pain In Clitoris Of A 5 Year Old?

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Jun 2014
Question: My 5 year old complains that her girl parts hurt especially when riding in the car or sitting at the table. We have been into dr/pediatrician 3 times now, urine tests done, no temp, no discharge, no odor. We have tried diaper rash products, hydrocortisone cream, monostat yeast infection cream, bathing nightly no bubbles without relief. Done everything dr has told us. She just cries and says it is painful and feels funny. Appears to be in clitoral area, it is not red at all. She also has molluscum bumps on inner thighs and buttock, which is going away.

Brief Answer:
Investigate for urinary tract pathology.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX,
Thanks for consulting us,
Her cry indicate there is some ongoing problem that is not getting better with the medicines you have tried.
I am sure that her private parts have been examined by the doctors she has seen & there is no obvious pathology there.
See, it is quite difficult to say anything without personally examining a child but I would like to share, what strikes my mind.
There is one other organ close to clitoris that is urethra. There may be something wrong with it. Just have one Urine DR test & a lower abdominal or pelvic ultrasound, to have a look at her bladder & inner genital tract. She may have a trans-perineal ultrasound which is supposed to give better picture of the area involved.
Also have one X-ray pelvis, AP lateral to exclude any bony problem.
Just practice good local hygiene by using plain water & don't use any perfumed products & anti-septics. Continue prescribed treatment for molluscum.
I hope these tests may give some valuable information & she gets well soon.
Take care.
