Question: Extreme pain/burning/numbness in hands,mri shows erosions in hands/wrists. I thought was carpel tunnel dr says its ra (on methotrex,humira arava) what does mean

Well looking into your problem I will like to tell you that I think your doctor is right in treating you as rheumatoid because your MRI shows erosions . Carpal tunnel syndrome can be a presentation for rheumatoid arthritis . What is your rheumatoid factor and anti ccp reports ? Also send me your ESR and MRI reports .

Sed rate is 96, rheumatoid factor negative, crp way high dont have exact number. She also did a
Vectra da test which shows my disease activity is severe. I just had hoped for surgery. The steroid shot she gave me in my shoulder has somehow helped my hands. What does "erosions" mean?

Well I think you have rheumatoid arthritis , erosions mean that the points where the bones meet have become rough and when there is movement , they rub and cause pain. Your treatment is also right . But it takes time for relief to come . How long ypu have been on treatment ?

I have been on humira for four months, before that was methotrexate and arava my hands have become intolerable and hard to function. Numbness and burning pain are level 10000 and then weakness. Drop everything. My right pinky is going outward and my pointer finger seems to be lowering with all this. Cant put fingers together

That treatment is for rheumatoid and adequate enough . But for this nerve pain you need to take some other medicine like gabapin or pregabalin along with vitamin B12 . Have you been prescribed anything like that ?
