What Causes Pain And Swelling At The Base Of Penis?

default
Posted on Tue, 3 Feb 2015
Question: I am a 38yo male and I am having some pain and swelling at the base of my penis on the left side. I felt the area and I don't feel any bumps but the swelling is visible. If i press firmly, there is pain that seems to emanate from the area right at the base of the penis and the bone. I have been worried I might have prostatitis due to some discomfort I've had after ejaculation or during masturbation for the past six weeks or so, but this is completely different. I haven't been feeling well lately either, having developed a cold a few days ago with a sore throat, fever (I think), runny nose, and fatigue. I don't feel very sick as the cold only really zapped me for two days, but my paranoia may be getting the best of me. Seeing a doctor is a bit difficult for me because I don't speak the local language where I live and I'm uncertain of the health care. Any advice? Thanks

Brief Answer:
Flu and edema at the base of penis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.

Read the history and understood your problems.
The pain with swelling at the base of the penis might have been due to vigorous masturbation causing the area to swell or might have had a small hematoma deep within. The crus of penis arises from the bone where you are feeling pain.
Prostatitis does not cause such symptoms as you have.
Your symptoms of cold, sore throat, fever, runny nose and fatigue look to be due to flu and this lowers the immunity of the body making existing problems more worrisome and makes healing a bit late.
I would advise you to Continue Advil 400 mg three times a day, Sudafed three times a day. Take steam inhalations, and most important is bed rest for early recovery.
No masturbation till the pain and swelling at the base of penis is cleared.

The Qualified Doctor in the area where you are staying must be conversant in English. You can consult him is required.

I hope this helps you and feel free to ask for more if you need to or if you feel there is a gap-of-communication.
