Question: My query to Dr XXXXXXX heijebu. I have back pain since yesterday,its worse when I bend down to pick up something.2 days ago I had to lift heavy weights in the gym.its causing discomfort,please suggest any help.?Thank you Dr XXXXXXX

Sudden onset of back pain in your case could most likely to be resulting from lifting heavy unaccustomed weights.

In all such cases,an acute intervertebral disc prolapse has to be ruled out.

This can present as sudden severe onset of pain especially worse while bending to pick up things.

All you currently require is an MRI fast spin echo total spine to detect Acute PID.

If detected early conservative management with lumbar corset will be helpful.

Analgesics like Flexon will help to relieve the pain when taken under expert medical guidance.

Consult an expert Interventional Neurosurgeon for further management after obtaining the scan result.
