Brief Answer:
Need to look for skin causes, if not neuropathic pain probably

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Sciatica will be more of radiating pain, or a pulling pain. In lying down position, if you try to lift affected leg straight to 90 degree with other leg flat down, the pain will be exaggerated. if you feel it, its probably sciatica.
2. Burning pain is usually of neuropathic/ neural origin. Look at the site for any skin changes. If no blebs or vesicles or tiny swelling is present, then skin causes can be ruled out.
3. Nutritional causes are next common ones. Supplements of Vit B12, B6 and alpha lipoic acid will help in this condition.

If there are any skin lesions, herpes zooster needs to be ruled out. Do improve your nutrition. If any skin lesions present, you will need to meet your doctor.

Also apply moisturizers at the location. If you are using any sprays or creams at the location, make sure you are not allergic to it.

Hope it helps.
