Posted on Fri, 24 Jun 2016
Question: I am having very strong cramps all over my body. legs, back, neck just one place then another esp when I wake up at first now any time even my finger to the point it takes another person to help me pull my foot back up or straighten me back out. We call them Charley horse cramps.
I have stop my small dose of water pill daily and increased my potassium in case that was it.
This is getting much worse over the last two weeks. I have seen a doctor about another matter and mentioned this and he told me to eat banana;s I did and it is just getting worse to the point I can hardly sleep. I have added Pickle juice for quick relief . I will go to the health food store and buy
a daily mineral pill made from kelp called missing link mineral pill. I was told that I might need minerals to my diet.
Thank you. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Suspected magnesium deficiency;buy multivitamin containing magnesium too

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear XXXXXXX

The muscle cramps you are having could be due to mineral deficiency. If you go to drug store, please select a multivitamin containing minerals such as magnesium, zinc, vit. B complex, vit. C, D, and calcium.

Deficiency in magnesium is often a side effect of water pills apart deficiency in potassium. I believe you took water pill for hypertension.

You can take pickle juice, but I won't recommend as it might cause spikes in blood pressure.

If no relief, then, a complete biochemical balance, and complete blood count is recommended to rule out other diagnosis such as: arthritis? of infectious?

Hope it was of help!
