What Causes Menorrhagia And Pelvic Cramps After Fitting Mirena Coil?

default
Posted on Fri, 28 Nov 2014
Question: I have menorrhagia, pelvic/abdominal pain cramps sometimes in groin and thigh. Am extremely tired, ill feeling and sometimes nauseous.
Had the mirena coil in a month ago and no change yet. Had an ultrasound a week ago and told there is fluid in the pouch of XXXXXXX and outside the uterus. My endometrium is 12mm thick and some follicles indicating PCOS were seen.
I have been told that as I am still menstruating (10 weeks now) that it is something that will sort itself out by about 6months.
Is this really the case or have I just been fobbed off?

Brief Answer:
wait for 6 months

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, I understand your health concerns.
Your doctor is right in asking for a wait of 6 months for remission to occur.
Don't be anxious and have faith in your doctor as mirena takes a little time to get managed and is not like surgery which gives immediate results.
Take tranexemic acid 500 mg thrice a day in says of heavy bleeding.
Take care.
