What Causes Lump On The Base Of My Penis?

default
Posted on Wed, 8 Apr 2015
Question: Hi, I have a vein like lump to the right of the base of my penis, at the top, where it meets the scrotum. It seems to be connected to the testicles, or the tubes that sit behind my right testicle. I don't feel any lumps on my testicles however they are a bit sore and I notice that I don't have this lump on the other side, so it worried me. I thought it could be a lymphocele however it isn't near the head/shaft and apparently they are found near the foreskin and I'm circumcised.

Brief Answer:
?? Epididymitis, orchitis or varicocele; but needs ruling out

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query and would like you to know that I am here to help. Based on the information at hand, I am happy to know that all STI's have been ruled out, and I currently suspect the following conditions to be the cause for your current presentation:

+Orchitis: Inflammation of the testes (can be any one). Diagnosed by urine tests, ultrasound of the region and a nuclear scan of the testicles
+Epididymitis: Inflammation of the epididymis which is the tube that is present behind a testicle and stores semen; diagnosed with urine and blood tests and an ultrasound examination of the region
+Varicocele: Swelling of the pampiniform venous plexus in the scrotum; diagnosed with physical examination mainly but an ultrasound or a Doppler will also help

I would request you to speak to your doctor to help diagnose/rule out all of the above mentioned conditions as I am assuming you should be suffering from any one of these sir. i would also like you to discuss with your doctor about whether the STIs checked were elaborate enough, and an elaborate STD-panel was conducted, just to make sure.

I hope and pray you are soon well diagnosed and can be appropriately treated at the earliest. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help you.

Best wishes.
