Posted on Wed, 4 Feb 2015
Question: Before 2 months I felt pain in my lower back, which after consulting with a doctor and taking muscle relaxation medicine, the pain went away....though sometimes used to feel the pain and pressure, heaviness and discomfort while standing and walking. Again visited the doctor, he prescribed some physical exercises and calcium and vitamins. After continuing with the exercises, my heaviness , discomfort has reduced considerably but not yet gone away completely. I still feel discomfort at my back sometimes upon standing or walking while feel ok upon sitting. Please advice me what I need to do. I feel discomfort at different parts at different times. Its not constant.

Brief Answer:
Get an x-ray of lower spine/MRI

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

From description your lower back pain seems to be mechanical in nature. These are generally treated by physiotherapy exercises, posture correction and muscle relaxant ant pain killers.

As the pain persists even after 2 months, I suggest you to get an x-ray of lower spine/MRI after consulting your orthopaedician. Meanwhile continue doing exercises and precautions as advised by your doctor.

Hope this helps you.

Warm regards.

I had again visited another orthopaedician doctor after 2 months, he also prescribed the same. The doctor said the regarding my problem , continue doing exercises and prescribed calcium sachets/month to be taken for 6 months. As per the doctor if I follow the above ,my discomfort will be cured in a month or two.

Do I need to visit the doctor again or shall I continue doing exercises and wait for 2 months ?
