What Causes Lower Back Pain?

Question: hi i have got lower back pain. i had slip disc issue for the last 5 yrs. L4 and L5 compression.I always get this pain once or twice a yr for the last few yes.. i had gone to physio and they did 7 setting of IFT and pain used to reduce. But again i have got pain due to travelling .( i cant move now and lying in thr bed past three days) I had called Portea and they have given pain killer Hifenac-D and myroil 8gm with IFT. They have also told to consult neuro and get MRI.

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms and agree that they are due to disc disease and pinching of nerves in the lower back (lumbar region). The diagnosis can be confirmed by neurological examination, followed by MRI scan of lumbar spine.

As of now, you need to be on bed rest. Medications such as pregabalin or gabapentin capsules would be very helpful in relieving the nerve pain.

Depending on the MRI findings, epidural injections may be advised.

Surgery is needed in only about 10% of most severe cases, which do not get better with medications, physiotherapy and epidural injections.
