What Causes Lower Back Pain Every Day In The Morning?

default
Posted on Wed, 15 Jun 2016
Question: Other than having a bad mattress or sleeping in a weird position ... is there any potentially serious medical condition that would cause me to wake up every morning with pain in my lower right back/side? The pain wakes me up every morning (usually after about 6 hours of sleep). It goes away after I have been up and moving around for 30 minutes or so.

Brief Answer:
Bad mattress and wrong sleeping positions can give such problems.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM

I have gone through your query. Bad mattress and wrong sleeping positions can give such condition. This can be due to wrong alignment of spine or repetitive stress injury to lower back muscles. As it is improving after you getting up and moving around this can be most likely due to mattress or sleeping position.
So what you should do is sleep on hard or firm mattress. Use orthopaedic pillow for neck and avoid high pillows. You can also use a pillow to keep under your knees if sleeping supine position. If side position then you can keep a pillow between knees. Avoid sleeping on stomach. Doing back muscle strengthening exercises daily is also good.

Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.
