What Causes Low BP While On Clonidine And Hydralazine?

default
Posted on Mon, 24 Oct 2016
Question: Been on 0.1mg of clonidine three times a day. My Doctor put me on hydralizine 100 mg twice a day and one 0.1mg of clonidine at dinner time to wean me off the clonidine. I tried it and had terrible headaches. My readings three hours after taking the hydralizine are around150/80 then three hours after lunch around 145/74. Later three hours after dinner it'll go down to 120/64. My question is would it be better to take 50mg of hydralizine with half a pill of clonidine for breakfast and lunch and a pill of the clonidine 0.1mg for dinner? I just want to minimize the withdrawals better.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

You can try to take 0.5 mg Clonidine along with 100mg Hydralazin twice daily under strict control of blood pressure, if your blood pressure goes too low, withdraw Clonidine.

Take care
