What Causes Lipoma On The Right Side Groin Area?
Question: I developed - what they are calling a lipoma - following a hernia surgery - it is on the right side - in the groin area - would like to know if this is a recurring hernia or actually a lipoma and would like to get it removed if in fact it is a lipoma - is this a difficult thing to do given the location - i have had lipomas removed from my back before?

How long back was the Hernia surgery?
It could very well be a Lipoma. If your Doctor has examined you and told you this then it probably would be. For confirmation you can ask for an Ultrasound of the groin. This will confirm what it is.
Lipomas dont usually require removal but if you feel pain then you can get it removed from the location.

i don't feel pain - a little discomfort - would like it removed if this would be somewhat simple - does the area where this resides make it problematic to remove?

It would not be problematic to remove it unless it is lying over the hernia surgery scar, which would make the present Surgery a little difficult.
If I was operating I would prefer to get an Ultrasound done before the surgery to be sure it is a Lipoma as Hernia surgery has been done in that area and I would like to be sure that it is not a Hernia recurrence.
