What Causes Left-sided Pelvic Pain During Ovulation?

default
Posted on Tue, 5 Jan 2016
Question: I've have sharp left side pelvic pain that came on immediate while in bed, coincidently during ovulation. i also had frequent urination for a couple days. it's been almost 2 weeks and I still have the sharp pain but not as bad and it comes and goes. I haven't experienced any bleeding from it. My ultrasound didn't show anything but it may have already ruptured by then. are these symptoms of a ruptured cyst?

Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health Care magic.
Can you please upload the Ultrasound report and tell me the date of your last periods and approximate date of start of this pain.
Also I would like to know if you have this pain in ovulation period frequently or it was the first time and your usual cycle length.
Are you using XXXXXXX kind of contraception or trying for a baby?
Waiting for your response so that I can advise you better.
Regards
Dr Manisha.

I dont have the report. it's with my gyno. the last date of my period was November 19th and the sudden pain happened Dec 2. now when I got my last period, it was 7 days late with spotting during those seven days. then I got my regular 5 day period. this is the first time I've been late that long and having this pain. I was told ultrasound was normal on Dec 4th. I'm not on any contraceptives and not trying for baby. I just had my son 9 months ago. my physician told me back in October that I was low and iron and vitamin D so I took supplements for both and that's when I was late 7 days in november. she also told me my hormone levels were low..

Brief Answer:
Corpus luteal hematoma most likely

Detailed Answer:
Sorry for the delay in response as I got struck in an emergency procedure.
I have read your whole history and in my opinion there is nothing to worry and that pain was ovulation pain only but since it is persistent it can be a small corpus luteal hematoma which is common and will regress itself in a few days.
Take simple analgesics as provided by your gynecologist and nothing active needed since your Ultrasound was normal and you have no other associated with the pain.
In the meanwhile avoid exercise or any strenuous activity in case you have been doing.
Hot fomentation can also help in early healing but in case this pain persists beyond your next periods or in case you have delayed periods this time also then visit your gynecologist immediately.
Take care.
