Question: Trauma that i have experienced. Are drug related my ex girlfriend had a seizure when i was sixteen from spice while i was hallucinating. Every time i smoke weed since then i go into a really bad trip. I try to stay away from any other drugs. I recently got into a car accident that totalled my car. I have been pushing people out of my life recently that do drugs or are related to it because it really bothers me. Another trauma is related to girlfriends always cheating on me and my parents getting divorced when i was a kid

Brief Answer:
Psychosis is a diagnosis of exclusion. Not appropriate here.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being in follow up.
I understand that you may be having some psychotic symptoms.Your psychotic symptoms are likely due to the drugs(psychoactive substances) you take.
Technically, psychosis is a diagnosis of exclusion and one can't be diagnosed as having psychosis unless he is having other reasons of psychotic symptoms as drugs in your case.

Hope that I have answered your query. If you have some follow up questions,I shall be glad to answer else please close the thread, rate it and write a review as your rating will be of help to me.

Brief Answer:
Please tell details-

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being in follow up.

Of course,if you have left the drugs long back,it should not be the cause of psychotic symptoms now.
I would just like to know the details about your psychotic symptoms because if there are definite psychotic symptoms, then you should be investigated for the secondary causes like-
1)Thyroid abnormalities
2)Some infections
3)Endocrine abnormalities
4)Electrolyte abnormalities

A Psychiatrist's opinion will also be of value in this regard.
Please follow up with detailed description of symptoms like-how do you feel disconnection from reality?

Thyroid abnormalities may cause psychotic symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up.
Hypothyroidism is very classical to present with psychotic symptoms irrespective of the severity of the disease(even subclinical hypothyroidism can present with such symptoms).Hyperthyroidism can also present with such symptoms.

So,please get the latest thyroid function tests to see whether they are still abnormal.

If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to answer.
